With the new year comes new design trends. Below are the carpet styles retailers can expect to see in 2017.

Color, Pattern and Texture: While neutrals remain steady, more individuals are choosing to show off personal style with stronger color choices, including berry reds, statement blues and soft greens. In addition to pops of color, carpets can also provide textural interest. Patterns such as swirls, arabesques, floral designs and ribbed looks are receiving interest.

Carpet Tiles: With the increase in desire to make a personalized statement, the demand for carpet tiles has been rising. Carpet tiles allow consumers to achieve the look they want, without the commitment of wall-to-wall carpeting. Tiles can be mixed to provide a custom design without the custom cost. Additionally, tiles can be easily replaced if stained or damaged, or if the consumer’s tastes change. Some brands include Durasquares and Flor.

Eco-Friendly: Consumers continue to look for products that help reduce their carbon footprints, increasing the demand for environmentally friendly carpet choices such as carpets constructed from recycled fibers. Brands such as Mohawk, Shaw and Karastan are among those that offer eco-friendly options.
