Walls Get an Update for 2017

March 1, 2017

Consumers aren’t always concerned about the quality of their walls. Luckily for DIYers and contractors, manufacturers have their backs when it comes to tackling issues most homeowners don’t think about until it’s too late. Both CertainTeed and Johns Manville have updated drywall and backerboard to increase durability and installation time.

GoBoard® by Johns Manville is a tile backerboard that is inherently waterproof, needing sealant only at the joints and fastener locations, eliminating the need for waterproof membranes. This lightweight, easily trimmed board saves time with quick installation and ability to be tiled the same day.

CertainTeed’s Habito™ drywall is impact resistant, protecting against accidental dents and dings; is strong, having the ability to hold up to thirty pounds on a single nail without a wall anchor or stud; and includes sound-blocking technology to help insulate transmission of sound through the walls into other rooms.
